Rick Wharton is a prominent Canadian comedian, actor, and producer, known for his diverse contributions to the entertainment industry. He began his career as the head of promotions at Universal Music, where he worked with legendary artists such as The Tragically Hip, Robbie Robertson, Tom Petty, Aerosmith, Guns N' Roses, Reba McEntire, Marty Stuart, U2, Triumph, and The Pursuit of Happiness. After transitioning to comedy, Rick gained acclaim performing with Second City and eventually became the director of a performing arts center in the Ottawa Valley. Currently, he actively works at the Meridian Centerpointe Theater in Ottawa, collaborating with artists, volunteers, staff, and patrons to enrich the cultural landscape. Recognized for his talent, he has received numerous accolades, including nominations for Best Male Improviser and Best Male Performer in a Television Series at the Canadian Comedy Awards.
In addition to his work in comedy and theater, Rick is a sought-after teacher at the Ottawa Acting Studio in Kanata and in the Glebe, where he shares his passion for acting with aspiring performers. He is known for his role as the "Conspiracy Guy" on a television show where he engaged fans on the Space Channel, offering a unique perspective on various topics. Committed to charitable causes, he established the first Downie Wenjack Legacy Space in Eastern Canada to honor his friend Gord Downie's vision of reconciliation and awareness about Indigenous issues.
